Virtual F-15SA pilot training to be provided to Saudi pilots by Lockheed Martin

ORLANDO, Fla. Lockheed Martin won a $253 million contract agreement to begin designing ground-based maintenance training systems for Royal Saudi Air Force F-15SA pilots as part of the country’s F-15SA upgrade program.
Pilots will be able to perform air-to-surface missions, air-to-air combat, tactical intercepts, and combat maneuvers with 360-degree full mission trainers. The new systems will have a single dome over the dual-seat cockpit to allow crew coordination training. Lockheed Martin engineers also will deliver avionics, egress, and desktop trainers for pilot procedure training.
For maintainers, Lockheed Martin engineers will deploy virtual systems that will enable training without the actual aircraft. The systems include landing gear, maintenance, arresting hook, flight controls, and jet fuel starter trainers.
Lockheed Martin will provide the training systems by 2020. Work on the systems will be performed in Akron, OH, and Orlando, FL. The contract is managed via a foreign military sales agreement by the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH.
