AR head-mounted display contract signed by U.S. Air Force innovation arm

ROCHESTER, N.Y. Augmented-reality (AR) technology company Vuzix won a U.S. Air Force Smart Business Innovative Research (SBIR) AFWERX Phase I contract focused on developing AR head-mounted display (HMD) gear to address pressing vision challenges in the Department of the Air Force (DAF).

Under the terms of the SBIR agreement, Vuzix is tasked with developing and supplying innovative waveguide and HMD capabilities that can be used by U.S. military personnel. 

Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix, said that its waveguides can be paired with its projector technologies that are typically used by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in aircraft and vehicles and carried by soldiers.
