Leonardo DRS gets multiple orders for its Link-11/Link-22 military comms systems

ARLINGTON, Va. Leonardo DRS has announced that it received multiple orders from the U.S. military and the Italian navy for its Link-11 and Link-22 data terminal sets and associated communication equipment, systems, and services. Forces in the U.S. and other allied countries already use the Link-11 and Link-22 data systems as the primary way to exchange information among airborne, land-based, and shipboard tactical data systems.
Under the terms of several concurrent U.S. Navy contracts, Leonardo DRS will provide data terminal sets that support standard network, station, and timing mode; when an optional port is added to these, the data terminal sets can also operate in digital mode, sending data by satellite, wireline, and other tactical circuits. The naval contracts also call for Leonardo DRS to provide depot support services for airborne and shipboard operations.
In addition, Selex ES, also a Leonardo company, will provide Link-11 and Link-22 data terminal sets for installation on new ships for the Italian navy’s fleet renewal program. The new shipboard equipment will allow Italian, U.S., and coalition forces to share time-sensitive military communications.
In addition, the U.S. Air National Guard recently took delivery of Leonardo data terminal sets as a replacement and upgrade for older Link-11 units it had successfully used for years.
