Rugged smart displays for ground vehicles showcased by Barco at Eurosatory

PARIS, France. Barco engineers released two new smart displays at Eurosatory this week in Paris ? the SV-126 and the SV-231. The units are compact and targeted at tracked and wheeled military vehicles.

Barco experts are showcasing the new smart displays at the Eurosatory exhibition from 11 to 15 June 2012, at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center in Paris, in Hall 6 (Belgian Pavilion).

The displays have a low-reflection, rugged touch screen leveraging the graphics and computing capabilities of Barco’s DPM computer.

Both Barco displays have a 10-inch screen with XGA resolution on the SV-126 or a 12-inch panel with WXGA resolution on the SV-231. The SV displays have a depth of 84 millimeters.

The new display range can be connected with vehicle architectures such as VICTORY and GVA, also known as Defense Standard 23-09, says Peter Pauwels, Director Strategic Marketing for Defense at Barco.

Both panel sizes work with the Intel Core i3 and Intel Core i7 processors. Each display also comes with a field-removable solid-state drive for securing data and quick replacement in the field. The SV thermal management system meets SWaP-C (Size, Weight, Power, and Cost) requirements as well.

For image processing the displays leverage the CommonSense platform Barco that uses image fusion, image warping, and motion detection. It also has high-resolution video streaming functionality for enhanced situational awareness.
