Horizon31 has introduced the MobileMesh hand radio. This ruggedized and secure IP radio is designed for unmanned system ground stations, mesh nodes, or for general purpose mobile ad hoc networking.

The MobileMesh radio contains a Doodle Labs Smart Radio module and is compatible with standalone Doodle Labs Smart Radios or the soon-to-be released Horizon31 PixC4 module. Depending on the antenna configuration, link ranges up to 20km can be achieved and throughputs of up to 100 Mbps. The radio is available in a wide range of licensed and unlicensed bands.

The MobileMesh Radio features a matte black anodized aluminum case, designed to mil-spec standards including waterproof and ruggedized connectors. The unit is powered by a twist lock lithium-ion battery with run times over 20 hours depending on the transmit duty cycle.

Uniquely, the MobileMesh Radio includes an RTK GPS module capable of running in both base and rover modes. Available cables give users easy access to the GPS via USB-A or USB-C, or scripts to interface with the GPS can be executed directly on the radio’s embedded Linux system. The radio contains an internal USB hub and Ethernet switch, simplifying connections to end user devices such as phones, tablets and computers using USB-A, USB-C or RJ45.

The MobileMesh Radios are available now.
