LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE, EL SEGUNDO, Calif. The Space and Missile Systems Center’s Production Corps reports the successful transfer of satellite-control authority of the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) Space Vehicle 6 to the Space Operations Command, under whose auspices operational acceptance of the AEHF-6 is expected to occur before the end of 2020 once operational testing has successfully concluded.

The 4th Space Operation Squadron will exercise operational control over the satellite as it is integrated into the constellation. SV-06 completes the Milstar/AEHF constellation of satellites, which enable critical nuclear communications plus command and control capabilities for decision-makers and warfighters in support of U.S. national security. Space Force information shows that the system provides global, assured, protected, jam-resistant communications through all conditions, which also include nuclear confrontation.

This is the last of six AEHF satellites launched and the first to launch under the U.S. Space Force banner.
