Marines order Falcon III manpack radios from Harris

ROCHESTER, N.Y. U.S. Marine Corps officials needing voice and mobile data network technology for their expeditionary operations placed a $64 million order with Harris for the company?s Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband manpack radios, antennas, vehicular amplifier adapters, and field support.

The AN/PRC-117G is a Software-Defined Radio (SDR) and works with applications such as collaborative, chat, streaming video, and other new combat software applications.

The AN/PRC-117G is certified as a JTRS Software Communications Architecture-based radio as well as a NSA Type-1 certified wideband manpack radio system. It utilizes NSA-certified High Assurance Internet Protocol Equipment (HAIPE) networking encryption to provide information assurance to tactical units.
