MCKINNEY, Texas. The U.S. Army Apache Program Management Office collaborated with the U.S. Special Operations Command and Raytheon to complete a flight test of a high energy laser system onboard an Apache AH-64 at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. The demonstration marks the first time that a fully integrated laser system engaged and fired on a target from a rotary-wing aircraft over a wide variety of flight regimes, altitudes, and air speeds, officials say.

The U.S. Army has awarded Raytheon Missile Systems a $116.4 million contract to enter into the technological maturation and risk-reduction phase of the Long-Range Precision Fires (LRPF) next-generation missile program. This next phase includes testing of the missile components to ensure that the design is ready for engineering and manufacturing development, along with live-fire demonstrations by the end of 2019.

Raytheon has been awarded a contract valued at as much as $600 million to provide the U.S. Army with software support and sustainment in the area of modernizing missile defense and other strategic systems. EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. The U.S. Army completed a test with Raytheon's Stinger anti-air missiles equipped with new proximity fuzes. During the test, the proximity fuzes intercepted an MQM-170C Outlaw and an unidentified smaller system, two small unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
