Navy awards Raytheon $235 million for missiles, spares - News

WALTHAM, Mass. The U.S. Navy has awarded Raytheon Company $235 million for Standard Missile-6 (SM-6) all-up round production missiles and spares, thereby funding the fourth year of full-rate production for the multimission missile. The missiles will be deployed on Aegis cruisers and destroyers to support U.S. Navy fleet operations.

UTC Aerospace Systems has obtained an exclusive license from engineering design firm Metis Design to use a carbon nanotube (CNT) heater based technology for aircraft electrothermal ice protection. This technology -- codeveloped by Metis Design and the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology -- responds to the military, aviation, and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) markets' need for low-power, lightweight ice protection.

Thales Group contracted to upgrade Swiss Air Force master radars - News

LA DEFENSE, Paris, France. The procurement organization for Switzerland's armaments, known as armasuisse, has awarded Thales Group the contract to upgrade the master radars for the Swiss Air Force. The agreement, which amounts to 74 million euros (approx. $79.5 million) is intended to extend the lifespan of the radars and ensure the systems' continued operation until 2030.
