LOWELL, Mass. MACOM Technology Solutions has announced the completion of its previously announced acquisition of Applied Micro Circuits, a manufacturer of connectivity chips for cloud data centers. The deal was previously valued at $770 million.
In a statement, John Croteau, MACOM’s president and chief executive officer, said that the transaction will position MACOM to provide users with up-to-date semiconductor content for optical networks. Croteau also mentioned that MACOM will pursue the immediate divestment of Applied Micro's compute business, which includes server-on-a-chip processors.
MACOM's other semiconductor products are used in the optical, wireless, and satellite-network arenas.
