U.S. Army selects next generation multispectral camouflage system

WASHINGTON. U.S. Army officials selected Fibrotex USA Inc. for a 10-year indefinite delivery / indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract to under the U.S. Army?s Next-Generation Ultra-Light Camouflage Netting System (ULCANS) program. The award is valued at $480 million.

The Army's ULCANS multispectral camouflage system will mask soldiers, vehicles, and installations from electro-optical sensors and radars, Fibrotex officials explain. Officials at the U.S. Army’s Natick Soldier Systems Center (PM-FSS) conducted nearly two-years of testing on Fibrotex USA’s ULCANS including other camouflage technologies from global manufacturers.

Full-rate production is expected to begin in early 2019, company officials say. ULCANS will be manufactured in a manufacturing facility in McCreary County, Kentucky.
