Saudi fighter jets to get electronic warfare upgrade from BAE Systems

NASHUA, N.H. Engineers at BAE Systems are upgrading the Electronic Warfare (EW) capability of F-15S fighter jets for the Royal Saudi air force today under a $367M contract. The company will install 70 Digital Electronic Warfare Systems (DEWS)/Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS) for the upgrade.
DEWS is a digital EW system which brings advanced radar warning and countermeasure capabilities to old and new platforms. The system’s enhanced situational awareness, offensive targeting support, and self-protection also assist in aircraft protection.
This upgrade will enable existing Saudi F-15s to match capabilities designed into the next generation F-15 SA fighter jets currently being developed, says John Nyilis, BAE Systems product line director. The product also can be modified for a many different platforms, he adds.
The DEWS/CMWS system will be delivered to Warner Robins Air Logistics Center in Georgia as part of a Foreign Military Sale to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Design work will be performed at BAE Systems facilities in Nashua, N.H., Totowa, N.J., and Austin, Texas and is expected to be finished by November 2018.
