Semi-active laser seeker production rates doubled

FORT WORTH, Texas. Elbit Systems of America is doubling its Semi-Active Laser seeker production rates to keep up with increasing demand for the Laser Joint Direct Attack Munition GBU-54/56 (JDAM). The increase in production rates is under an existing five-year indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract with Boeing, supporting both domestic and foreign customers.
According to manufacturers, the Laser JDAM is capable of targeting static and fast-moving objects. The system does not rely on satellite signals, but instead, seeks a laser target that is placed by ground forces or an aircraft. The precision guided munition (PGM) locks on and tracks the target.
The Laser JDAM is currently operational on nearly all U.S. air combat platforms, along with many of the aircraft of our country's allies, according to company officials. Production of the Laser JDAM seeker is performed at Elbit Systems of America's manufacturing facility in Fort Worth, Texas.
