Navy fires first Tomahawk cruise missiles from new submarine payload tubes - News

TUCSON, Ariz. The U.S. Navy has test-fired two Tomahawk cruise missiles from new submarine payload tubes on the Virginia-class sub USS North Dakota (SSN-784), reports Raytheon, the maker of the Tomahawk missile. The tests -- run recently in the Gulf of Mexico near Florida -- demonstrated the submarine's ability to load, carry, and vertically launch Tomahawk missiles from the new Block III Virginia Payload Tube.

Leonardo shares in $51.6 million contract to upgrade radar on U.K. fighter jets - News

ROME. Global defense and aerospace firm Leonardo will be included in a contract between NATO Eurofighter 2000 and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA) and Eurofighter to upgrade the Defensive Aids Sub System (DASS) capabilities on the U.K.?s Eurofighter Typhoon combat jets. The two-year, 45-million-euro ($51.6 million) contract includes capability work by Leonardo, integration activities by BAE Systems, and U.K. defense ministry trials.

RESTON, Va. -- Science and engineering firm Leidos has been awarded a task order from the U.S. Army to integrate, test, and demonstrate the three complete Airborne Reconnaissance Low-Enhanced (ARL-E) systems under the ARL-E program of record. The single-award cost-plus fixed-fee task order has a one-year base period of performance, two nine-month options, and a total contract value of approximately $64 million if the options are exercised.
