BLACKSBURG, Va. and CHARLOTTE, N.C. Virginia Tech and UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) have announced a comprehensive research and education agreement that will focus on secure aircraft wireless networking and power electronics. Under the terms of the agreement, UTAS will invest $1 million over five years to help fund Virginia Tech's master research agreement, as well as student scholarships, capstone projects, and competitions in these areas.

UTAS is set to collaborate with Virginia Tech's Ted and Karyn Hume Center for National Security and Technology, Wireless@VT, the Center for Energy Harvesting Materials and Systems, and the Center for Power Electronics Systems.

The agreement reflects a growing relationship between UTAS and Virginia Tech; the latest move follows a 2015 donation of $100,000 to Virginia Tech from UTAS to support similar scholarships and experiential learning opportunities in the university's College of Engineering.
