Air Force centers to integrate air operations and missile defense with Lockheed Martin software planner - News

DENVER. Lockheed Martin engineers developed a software planner that will integrate air operations and missile defense systems, providing the Air Force with the ability to see and better understand dynamic global scenarios. The contract was awarded by the U.S. Air Force Life Cycle Management Center and is worth about $8 million to provide an air and missile defense planner that will then be integrated into the U.S. Air Force Air Operations Center.

The 3U VPX product -- the Model 5973 -- is the first one from of Pentek's new Flexor line of FMC (FPGA Mezzanine Card) carriers and FMC modules. Pentek released the product this week at the Embedded Tech Trends conference in Phoenix.

YUMA PROVING GROUND, AZ. Engineers at Raytheon and L-3 Communications fired Raytheon-made TALON laser-guided rockets from L-3 remote weapon station designed by L-3 using an LAU-68 launcher. The test demonstrated how small ships can be protected by using the lightweight remote weapon system integrating the already-fielded launcher and sensor systems as well as the TALON missiles.
