Press ReleaseAugust 22, 2019
BOHEMIA, NY — August 2019 — North Atlantic Industries, Inc. (NAI), a leading supplier of embedded computing solutions and power supplies, announces the availability of the FTJ and FTK MIL-STD-1760 smart communication function modules. Modules FTJ and FTK meet the operational requirements within the general specifications of MIL-STD-1760 as applied to an integrated I/O function module and include special designed transceivers to ensure signal parameter operation and integrity.
The FTJ & FTK modules provide a single and dual-channel (respectively) communications interface and offer advantages including independent (dual-redundant) interface channels with support for Remote Terminal (RT) and Bus Monitor (BM) combination, automatic message return support, automatic message retries and multiple message processing. 64 words on-board memory is available per channel.
MIL-STD-1760, based on the MIL-STD-1553 signal and interface backbone, includes additional communication and the electrical interface requirements for subsystems connected to the data bus for integration into weapon systems. When auto-initialized as an RT, the channel(s) can respond on the bus with valid messages within 150 ms of power-on.
"The addition of the FTJ & FTK communications modules supplements the wide array of NAI's COSA® Architecture smart function support." states Lino Massafra, VP of Sales and Marketing. "Providing a MIL-STD-1760 weapons store communications solution augments NAI's support for warfighter platform systems integration and capabilities."
