BAE Systems BattleView 360 gives warfighters 2-D/ 3-D view while in armored vehicle

LONDON. BAE System announced at DSEI 2015 the BattleView 360, a digital mapping system that collates, displays, and tracks position of all surrounding points of interest in 2-D and 3-D modes, giving situational awareness to the warfighter in a real time.
“Knowing what is going on around you has always been a challenge for armored vehicle crews inside noisy machines with limited visibility,” says Peder Sjölund, technology manager at BAE Systems Hägglunds, a subsidiary of BAE Systems, Inc. in the United States. “BattleView 360 builds on years of work across BAE Systems to improve situational awareness and integrate information so that crew workload is reduced and they can make fast, yet effective, decisions. The result is increased battlefield effectiveness and survivability.”
The BattleView 360 has a head-worn part that can be synced to vehicle cameras that provides visual and infrared capabilities. The given display can be integrated onto other vehicles, even unmanned aerial systems, and the imagery helps crews identify friendly and enemy forces. It can also be used to generate safer routes out of the view of the enemy.
According to BAE System officials, it is currently being designed to integrate with multiple existing vehicle types, systems, and radios.
