LONDON, Ontario. Canadian government officials selected General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada to upgrade an enhanced surveillance suite for the Canadian LAV III Upgrade vehicles.

Under the program, General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada engineers and the Government of Canada officials will jointly head a competitive procurement process for a new surveillance suite, mast, and operator control station. Work on the contract should be completed by the beginning of 2014.

Once the Canadian government authorized the implementation of the LRSS Upgrade package, the surveillance suite, mast, and operator control station will be integrated in to 66 upgraded LAV III vehicles. The vehicles were ordered by the Government of Canada earlier this year, via a $133 million contract modification to the LAV III Upgrade contract, originally valued at $1 billion.
