TEWKSBURY, MA. Raytheon engineers finished manufacturing an Antenna Equipment Unit (AEU) for the AN/TPY-2 ballistic missile defense radar. The AN/TPY-2 searches, discriminates between threats and non-threats then acquires and tracks threat ballistic missiles as part of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).

An era is coming to an end at the VITA Standards Organization (VSO) as its long-time Executive Director -- Ray Alderman -- is retiring from his everyday leadership role and becoming Chairman of the VITA Board of Directors. Jerry Gipper, VITA's current marketing director, will take over Ray's position effective January 1, 2014. John Rynearson, the Technical Director of VITA, also will be retiring from VITA early next year.

HARM Control Section Modification (HCSM) contract won by Raytheon - News

TUCSON, AZ. Raytheon won a $14 million Air Force Lot 2 contract for continuing full rate production of the High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile (HARM) Control Section Modification (HCSM) upgrade units. This modification adds a GPS receiver as well as an enhanced inertial measurement unit (IMU) for precision navigation to the current HARM. It also has a digital flight computer that fuses targeting solutions from navigation and seeker systems.

(NYSE: TXT) and AirLand Enterprises, LLC, debuted the Scorpion prototype, an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR)/strike aircraft platform. The Scorpion is in test phase, with its first flight set to happen before the end of this year.

CARLSBAD, CA. Officials at Emerson announced that they have signed an agreement to sell a 51 percent stake in the company's embedded computing and power business to Platinum Equity in Los Angeles. Under the deal, Emerson will get about $300 million in cash and will keep a 49 percent non-controlling interest in the business, which will then operate as an independent company.
