U.S. Army orders another 13,000 JTRS HMS Rifleman radios - News

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. U.S. Army officials ordered another 13,000 Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Handheld, Manpack, Small Form Fit (HMS) AN/PRC-154 Rifleman radios as well as accessory kits from General Dynamics C4 Systems for about $53.9 million. This is the Army?s second order of PRC-154 Rifleman radios, bringing the total to more than 19,000.

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. Actuators for the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL), which recently landed on on the 4th planet from the Sun were provided by Aeroflex Inc. These Actuators will drive the rover?s wheels, enable steering motion, robotic arm joint motion, camer and high-gain antenna as well as various instrument functions on the Curiosity rover. Curiosity?s mission is to determine whether Mars has ever had the proper conditions to support life.

Integration tests of MEADS multifunction fire control radar completed in Italy - Other

ROME, Italy. Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) International engineers integrated the MEADS Multifunction Fire Control Radar (MFCR) with a MEADS battle launcher and manager Pratica di Mare Air Force Base near Rome, Italy. This test series is expected to show that the MEADS TOC can control the MEADS MFCR in coordination with the MEADS Launcher. Demonstrated during the tests were functionalities such as 360-degree target acquisition and track through dedicated flights and other air traffic.

Raytheon engineers will improve the radar system's software to maximize power efficiency and prepare the radar suite for the next testing and evaluation phase.

K-MAX -- a joint effort by Lockheed Martin and Kaman Aerospace ? was to stay in theater through September 30, the end of this fiscal year. Now its service in Afghanistan will extended for an additional six months with an option to extend through September 2013.
