REDONDO BEACH, California. Northrop Grumman Corporation has announced that Airbus U.S. Space & Defense Inc. will be the commercial provider of 42 satellite platforms for its proliferated-LEO (low earth orbit) constellation, Northrop announced in a statement.

EUROPE. Leonardo announced that it has signed contracts with HENSOLDT which will see the company playing a role in the development and delivery of the Eurofighter Typhoon’s European Common Radar System Mk1 (ECRS Mk1) E-scan radar, ordered by Germany and Spain.

NETHERLANDS. Airbus will place a dedicated Ultra High Frequency (UHF) military communications hosted payload on board the EUTELSAT 36D telecommunications satellite. As a provider of military satellite communications (milsatcom) services in Europe, Airbus will aim to offer a new UHF communications service to the armed forces, particularly those of European countries and NATO allies.

EUROPE. The European Commission has selected a consortium of companies and research institutes to study the design of the future European quantum communication network, EuroQCI (quantum communication infrastructure). It will aim to enable ultra-secure communication between critical infrastructures and government institutions across the European Union.

ANDOVER, Mass. and MUNICH, Germany. Mercury Systems and Airbus Defence and Space announced that they will cooperate in the area of autonomous and flight-control computer programs.

EUROPE. The European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) awarded a contract to Airbus Defense and Space Airborne Solutions (ADAS), a 100% subsidiary of Airbus Defense and Space and company specializing in remotely piloted aircraft systemts (RPAS) services, and its partner Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to operate a Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) RPAS for Maritime Aerial Surveillance services.
