WASHINGTON. Raytheon has teamed up with the U.S. Army and completed the live-fire demonstration phase of the Accelerated Improved Intercept Initiative (AI3) program from September 16-30 at Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona. During the tests, the AI3 system destroyed 22 of 24 threats. The AI3 is designed to enhance protection for warfighters by intercepting rockets, artillery, mortars, cruise missiles, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in flight.

MARLBOROUGH, MA. Raytheon engineers demonstrated a new unclassified waveform that enables sensitive data to be passed through small, low-cost satellite terminals. Tactical users such as forward deployed forces or remotely piloted aircraft, would be able to use this technology to operate missions more securely and reliably than in environments where communications can be jammed.

The ESM uses an antenna and a state-of-the-art processor to find and track moving and fixed emitting targets.

TEWKSBURY, MA. Raytheon engineers finished manufacturing an Antenna Equipment Unit (AEU) for the AN/TPY-2 ballistic missile defense radar. The AN/TPY-2 searches, discriminates between threats and non-threats then acquires and tracks threat ballistic missiles as part of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).
