WASHINGTON. The Netherlands has joined the U.S. Air Force’s Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program, an initiative to develop uncrewed aircraft systems under which fighter pilots will control the systems from their aircraft.

BERKELEY, Calif. Artificial intelligence (AI) engineering firm Arize AI won a $1.2 million contract from AFWERX for a Direct-to-Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) to conduct a 12–month R&D-focused effort on AI engineering capabilities for large-language model (LLM) AI enhancement to address the most pressing challenges in the U.S. Air Force. 

PASADENA, Calif. Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered logistics software company Virtualitics announced that it won a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract by the U.S. Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) under which Virtualitics will advance AI logistics optimization for readiness spares package (RSP) mobilization, a key part of the AFGSC’s agile combat employment (ACE) strategy.

ARLINGTON, Va. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is teaming with the U.S. Air Force to integrate formal methods-based cybersecurity tools -- a mathematically rigorous approach to software development that helps eliminate exploitable vulnerabilities before software is deployed -- on the MQ-9 Reaper, the first project in the DARPA Resilient Software Systems Capstone program. 

TUCSON, Ariz. Raytheon (an RTX business) won a contract worth $1.1 billion contract from the U.S. Navy to produce AIM-9X Block II missiles.
