Hydrogen-powered Phantom Eye UAV makes its first medium speed taxi test - News

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. The Phantom Eye High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) completed its first medium-speed taxi test. The test took place at Edwards Air Force Base in cooperation with officials at the NASA Dryden Flight Research Center. Phantom Eye reached speeds of as fast as 30 knots while ground personnel relayed directions and data using Boeing?s Common Open-mission Management Command and Control (COMC2) system.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Officials at Curtiss-Wright Controls, Inc. in Charlotte, N.C., have restructured their Integrated Sensing business to focus more on avionics and global aerospace applications. The group is now called the Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) division, which will be based in Christchurch, United Kingdom.

Tomahawk missile's weapons system gets hardware and software upgrade - News

PHILADELPHIA. Engineers at Lockheed Martin are upgrading the Tomahawk Land Attack missile?s weapon-control system software and hardware. The Tactical Tomahawk Weapon Control System, or TTWCS), TTWCS gives firing units the ability to control, prepare, and launch Tomahawk missiles and is one of the three main components that make up the Tomahawk Weapons System.

NEW YORK CITY. U.S. Navy officials are ordering Binocular Night Vision Devices (BNVD) from the L-3 Communications Warrior Systems ? Insight Technology business unit for operators in the U.S. Special Operations Command. The BNVD is smaller and more lightweight than typical night vision goggles.

Lynx radar simulation tool released by GA-ASI - News

SAN DIEGO. Engineers at General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA ASI) unveiled a new radar training tool called the Tactical Airborne Reconnaissance Simulator (TARS). TARS enables operators of Lynx Multi-mode Radar systems to train via a software-based tool on a laptop computer.

Engineers at Northrop Grumman will be modifying software for the LN-251 embedded GPS/fiber-optic inertial navigation system (INS) that flies on the CH-53K Super Stallion helicopter. The work is for a Navy Phase II contract awarded by officials at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) in Patuxent River, Md.

The CPU-111-10 is a rugged 6U VPX single-board computer (SBC) that has a quad-core Intel L5408 Xeon processor and 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch in rugged conduction and convection-cooled versions.

NUREMBERG, Germany. Engineers at Visure Solutions in Madrid, Spain integrated test management into its new IRQA requirements engineering tool. The new feature enables validation of requirements for safety-critical software designers involved in military and commercial avionics DO-178B certification and other mission-critical applications. The IRQA tool automates requirements traceability with tests that provide proof points necessary for regulatory certification. Visure is demonstrating their Test Management Extension in Hall 4, Stand 418 at Embedded World this week.
