Alenia Aermacchi S.p.A. in Turin, Italy selected Curtiss-Wright Controls Avionics & Electronics (CWC-AE) division to supply rugged data acquisition subsystems for Alenia?s Intermediate eXperimental Vehicle (IXV). Curtiss-Wright Controls engineers will provide their Acra KAM-500, Acra PCM recorder, and Acra network switch for the re-entry vehicle?s data handling and telemetry subsystem for acquiring data to test new re-entry vehicle technologies.

ORLANDO, Fla. The Direct Attack Guided Rocket (DAGR) from Lockheed Martin tracked and engaged a moving target from 3.5 kilometers during an Apache helicopter demonstration at Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz. Test pilots on an AH-64D Apache shot an inert DAGR round in high winds, designating the target via the helicopter?s lock-on-before-launch mode. The target -- a truck ? was moving at 25 miles per hour.

WASHINGTON. Improved sonar detection technology for minehunting operations was installed by Naval Surface Warfare Center engineers on the on USS Guardian (MCM 5) in Sasebo, Japan, its home port. The AN/SQQ-32(V)4 minehunting sonar set is a high-frequency wideband upgrade to the current AN/SQQ-32(V)3 sonar.
