SPECIAL OPERATIONS COMMAND, FORT MACDILL, TAMPA, Fla. U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has installed the Common Database Builder (CDB) technology product -- made by training and engineering firm Visual Awareness Training and Consulting (VATC) -- at several government sites within SOCOM and other agencies, including the organization that produces and maintains 3-D visualization databases and enhanced geospatial data for simulated training exercises with Special Operations Forces.

DARPA awards contracts to develop implantable neural interface - News

ARLINGTON, Va. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded contracts to five research organizations and one company that will support its Neural Engineering System Design (NESD) program, which aims to develop an implantable neural interface able to provide precise communication between the human brain and the digital world. DARPA had previously reported that it expected to spend as much as $60 million on the NESD program.

L3 Technologies announced today that its L3 Electronic Business segment has been awarded an initial $89.2 million firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Army to supply M783 point detonating/delay (PD/DLY) mortar fuzes and M734A1 multioption fuze for mortars (MOFM). The multiyear contract has a base award and four option years, which -- if fully exercised -- could potentially exceed $230 million.

SAN DIEGO. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions' Unmanned Systems Division (USD) has been awarded an amendment to a previously awarded contract to exercise an option for Low Rate Initial Production Year 1 (LRIP 1) from the U.S. Navy for BQM-177A Subsonic Aerial Target (SSAT) drone systems. The SSAT LRIP 1 order has an initial value of $34.5 million; coincident with the LRIP 1 order, Kratos also won the contract to provide contractor logistics support (CLS), with the initial value of the CLS award at $2.53 million for fiscal 2017.
