Airborne synthetic aperture radar from Lockheed Martin now available to nations in Europe and Asia - News

FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom. Lockheed Martin?s airborne Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is now available internationally. The AN/APY-12 airborne reconnaissance radar produces high resolution, photo-like imagery, in darkness or inclement weather or darkness. Company officials made the announcement this week at the Farnborough Air Show in the United Kingdom.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. Officials at Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and ITT Exelis have joined hands to build a manned aircraft-based Wide-Area Airborne Persistent Surveillance (WAPS) system, dubbed Vigilant Stare. It is inspired by a similar U.S. Air Force system.

CROLLES, France. Engineers at Ecrin Systems released a new rugged computer ? ONYX ? for constrained space applications such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), ground vehicles, and manned aircraft. The new small form factor device is based on a rugged COM Express module design.

FAA awards WAAS Safety Computer contract to Verocel - News

WASHINGTON. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) officials selected Verocel in Westford, Mass., under a $6.2 million single- source contract to develop the next-generation safety computer for use in the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). Verocel, a software verification company, will ensure that the safety computer will comply with RTCA/DO-178B1 and RTCA/DO-2542 to Level B.

PACIFIC MISSILE RANGE FACILITY, KAUAI, Hawaii. A Standard Missile-3 Block IB from Raytheon was fired by personnel on the USS Lake Erie and destroyed another ballistic missile target during a recent test, that marked the 21st intercept for the SM-3 program.

LINTHICUM, Md. The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter AN/AAQ-37 Distributed Aperture System (DAS) and AN/APG-81 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar system from Northrop Grumman Corp. recently detected ballistic missiles during a demonstration in coordination with NASA the U.S. Air Force.

Flying ISR laboratory from Lockheed Martin to be used by Italian air force - News

ROME. Engineers at Lockheed Martin in Denver have designed a flying intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) hub called the innovative Airborne Multi-Intelligence Laboratory (AML) for the Italian air force. The Italians are using the ISR aircraft in a live operational environment.
