Hub-drive design and development contract will improve mobility and survivability - News

WALES. The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has selected QinetiQ to develop an electric hub-drive to improve survivability and mobility of military ground vehicles. The contract estimates its total at $1.5 million, but if all options are exercised it could go up to $2.7 million.

JOINT PACIFIC ALASKA RANGE COMPLEX, Ala. In a joint effort during the biannual Northern Edge exercise in Alaska, the U.S. Naval Research Lab and Raytheon conducted a flight test with the CEREBRUS design on the Miniature Air Launched Decoy-Jammer (MALD-J). The demonstration used IndyCar racing technology and allowed for quick replacement architecture on electronic warfare (EW) payloads.

High-density processor module undergoes testing in USAF led Generation Radar Study program - News

CHELMSFORD, Mass. In a U.S. Air Force (USAF) led Generation Radar Processor Study, Mercury’s Ensemble HDS6603 satisfied performance requirements when executing USAF-provided ground moving target indicator (GMTI) and synthetic aperture radar (SAR) benchmarks. The modules also demonstrated its performance thresholds, providing in excess of 4 TFLOPS of computing power.

The Naval Aviation Training Systems Program Office (PMA-205) and Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division teamed up to design and demonstrate the Navy Aviation Distributed Training Center (NADTC) prototype, a central hub for distributed aviation training. The NADTC’s goal is to provide daily training opportunities for naval aviation and is part of the Naval Aviation Vision for 2025.
