BlackBerry 10, Samsung KNOX approved for use on DoD networks - News

WATERLOO, ON and LONDON, UK. In two separate announcements late last week, both BlackBerry and Samsung Electronics revealed that BlackBerry 10 smartphones and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets running BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 and Samsung KNOX-enabled smartphones and tablets have been approved for use on U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) networks. The devices were successfully qualified against Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) standards by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and will be placed on the Unified Communications Approved Product List (UC APL).

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, CA. The X-51A WaveRider unmanned hypersonic vehicle from Boeing completed the longest air-breathing, scramjet-powered hypersonic flight in known history after flying for three and a half minutes on scramjet power with a top speed of Mach 5.1. The vehicle flew for f more than six minutes total.

AURORA, Colo. Raytheon engineers finished the second launch readiness exercise of the next generation Global Positioning System (GPS) operational control system (OCX) for the U.S. Air Force. Exercise 2's completion demonstrates that the OCX software from Raytheon meets mission requirements and is on track for the first GPS III satellite launch.

LIBERTY LAKE, WA. Parker Aerospace will provide a liquid cooling Thermal Management System (TMS) to Joint Strike Missiles (JSMs) from Kongsberg Defense Systems. The JSMs are slated to be the primary strike weapon of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters for the Royal Norwegian Air Force.

MAINZ, GERMANY. SYSGO has announced that its PikeOS certified Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) ran on the LEON platform of the recently completed IMA4Space project. The IMA4Space project, a program established by the European Space Agency (ESA) to define a Time and Space Partitioning (TSP) solutions for space equipment, focused on the implementation of an Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) system to reduce the amount of electronics in future space applications.

Low Frequency Sensor radar cues Multifunction Fire Control Radar in 360-degree MEADS demonstration - News

ORLANDO, FL. A Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) Low-Frequency Sensor has cued a Multifunction Fire Control Radar (MFCR) in a demonstration at Hancock Airport in Syracuse, N.Y. The UHF Low-Frequency Sensor acquired, tracked, and relayed the location of a small test aircraft to the MEADS Battle Manager. The Battle Manager then produced corresponding cue search commands for the X-band MFCR, which searched the cued area and set up a dedicated track once the target was acquired.
