BOHEMIA, N.Y. North Atlantic Industries (NAI) has announced the 55RQ2, a rugged 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) DC/DC power converter. The PICMG 2.11-compliant converter meets MIL-STD-704F requirements and supplies up to 300 W of power with four outputs, and accepts inputs from +16 VDC to +36 VDC.

The 2.4 GHz operation of the Intel Haswell processors provides the C873 with up to 20 percent more computing performance than previous SBCs for improved graphics and data processing.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Lockheed Martin engineers completed a demonstration of its prototype Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DELRR)-range for the U.S. Air Force. It will replace the Air Force's AN/TPS-75 air search radar and become the principal long-range, ground-based sensor for detecting, identifying, and reporting airborne targets.

VAN NUYS, CA. IEE, Inc. has released a rugged 10.4" TFT XGA thin-client display based on an ARM processor that can be customized for harsh environments. The 1024 x 768 resolution AMLCD Control Display Unit (CDU) includes a dual-mode backlighting system that supports reading modes from high bright (600 cd/m2) to Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) lighting. The MIL-STD qualified CDU operates in a -46ºC to +70ºC temperature range, and is fully sealed for submersible applications.

Contractor trade groups protest proposed NDAA regulation on counterfeit electronics - News

NEW YORK. The Council of Defense and Space Industry and Professional Services Council Associations said Wednesday that they are suspect of proposed regulations by the Department of Defense (DoD) to remove counterfeit electronics from the military supply chain. A proposed rule issued by the DoD on May 16 would partially implement a provision in the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that requires the Pentagon to eliminate counterfeit electronics by shifting liability for replacing such parts to contractors, unless the DoD provides the parts. Trade groups suggest that this will shift too much risk to contractors and prevent the DoD from buying the latest commercial technologies.

A trust architecture implemented into the processors’ e500mc cores and peripherals allows for high-security designs, and leaded versions of the extended temperature range (-40 ºC – 110 ºC) processors will qualify for military operation (-55 ºC – 125 ºC) by the end of 2013.

The device is single output LDO that is specified for an output current as high as 1.5A.
