EUROPE. The European Commission has selected a consortium of companies and research institutes to study the design of the future European quantum communication network, EuroQCI (quantum communication infrastructure). It will aim to enable ultra-secure communication between critical infrastructures and government institutions across the European Union.

GERMANY. HENSOLDT has won an additional order under the German Air Force’s Quadriga procurement program for 38 Eurofighter combat aircraft. In the context of the Quadriga program, HENSOLDT has been commissioned by the European EuroRADAR consortium to produce and deliver radar electronic components. 

EUROPE. a4ESSOR S.A.S (Alliance for ESSOR), a multi-national joint venture to develop European Secure Software-Defined Radio (ESSOR) technology, announced it has achieved formal acceptance for its High Data Rate (HDR) Base Waveform which has been developed under the European Secure Software defined Radio-Operational Capability 1 (ESSOR OC1) contract signed with Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en matière d’ARmement (OCCAR).

ITALY. Leonardo has been contracted by Boeing to provide its new software-defined radio (SDR), the SWave Airborne SDR SRT-800 for NATO’s fleet of E-3A Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft. The AWACS fleet is being modernized by Boeing to maintain its operational viability through 2035 under the Final Lifetime Extension Program (FLEP).

UNITED KINGDOM. Following its testing and entry into service with the UK’s Royal Air Force, Leonardo announced that its BriteCloud capability is now being evaluated for use by U.S. Armed Forces.

POWAY, Calif. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is working with Leonardo to integrate the Leonardo Seaspray 7500E V2 radar into the centerline radar pod of its MQ-9B SeaGuardian remotely-piloted aircraft system (RPAS).

ARLINGTON, Va. Leonardo has introduced its newest naval defense product Lionfish, a family of small-caliber remotely controlled turrets. Designed and developed by Leonardo, the new line consists of four models, which feature Ultralight, Inner Reloading and Top of 12.7 mm caliber, and the model 20 of 20 mm caliber.
