Cybersecurity gets nearly billion-dollar increase in DoD FY 2017 budget request - News

WASHINGTON: Department of Defense officials are requesting $6.7 billion for cyber operations in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 base budget request. This is an increase in cyber funding of $0.9 billion compared to the FY 2016 enacted base budget.

ARLINGTON, Va. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) engineers completed the first flight data collection with the common quadcopter unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) platform for the Fast Lightweight Autonomy (FLA) program at the Otis Air National Guard Base, Cape Cod in Massachusetts. Officials deemed the demonstration a success because the quadcopters were able to edge their way around obstacles and achieve their target speeds of 20 meters per second.

Officials at the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) announced that they are hosting a Proposers' Day Conference for the Odin program on Friday March 11, 2016, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm in the Washington metropolitan area. The conference is being held in anticipation of the release of a new Broad Agency Announcement solicitation on the program, which will develop biometric presentation attack detection technologies to ensure biometric security systems can detect when someone is attempting to disguise their biometric identity.
