The joint platform combines SYSGO’s DO-178B/C certified hypervisor PikeOS with Curtiss-Wright’s VPX3-1701 Freescale LS1020A dual ARM Cortex-A7 processor-based single board computer (SBC) in an avionics solution.

The U.S. Army awarded General Dynamics Mission Systems a contract to support upgrades to their Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) waveform that is used in the Army's AN/PRC-155 two-channel MUOS-Manpack radios. The waveform is the digital 'dial-tone' necessary for connecting with the U.S. Navy's new MUOS satellite communications network that will enable U.S. military and government personnel to have smartphone-like voice clarity and data connectivity.

Officials at NXP Semiconductors N.V. and Freescale Semiconductor, Ltd. announced that the two companies have signed a definitive agreement that will have NXP merge with Freescale in a transaction valued at just over $40 billion. Freescale's PowerPC chips fuel computing and signal processing in many defense electronics applications such as avionics, radar, and electronic warfare.
