WASHINGTON – AUSA ANNUAL MEETING 2025. Electronic warfare (EW) modernization, software-defined radios (SDRs), and modular open systems approach (MOSA) strategies are all trends within U.S. Army technology development and procurement. During the AUSA Annual Meeting this month in Washington, I sat down with Clif Basnight, Vice President, Strategic Technologies, Ultra I&C, to discuss these trends. Edited excerpts of our conversation follow.

WASHINGTON, D.C. Ultra I&C will showcase a suite of command and control technologies at the 2025 Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Expo, including its Knox multifunction processors, Maxwell artificial intelligence (AI) agent, and Apex orchestration platform, the company announced in a statement.

AUSTIN, Tex. Mission-critical communications firm Ultra I&C reports a successful demonstration of its Orion radio and Archer troposcatter systems to European NATO allies in Poland, marking what it calls a "critical advancement in secure, multi-domain and mobile communications networks."

AUSTIN, Texas. Ultra I&C will provide its Archer troposcatter communications system to the U.S. Army for training and evaluation, the company announced. 

AUSTIN, Tex. Ultra I&C will provide the U.S. Army with its Archer troposcatter system under a new contract aimed at getting Archer into the hands of Army soldiers for training and evaluation in an effort to enhance network resiliency by adding an additional form of secure communications. 

Momentum behind the the Department of Defense’s (DoD’s) modular open system approach (MOSA) mandate is growing, especially as it was reaffirmed by Army, Navy, and Air Force leadership at the end of 2024. AUSTIN, Texas. Ultra I&C won an $86.8 million contract to develop software prototypes for the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) Mission Command System in support of Guam Defense Operations, the company announced.
