AMSTERDAM. Growth in modular technologies like electronic warfare (EW) and stealth capabilities will pace the expansion of the global surveillance radar market, according to a new study from Market Forecast, "Global Surveillance Radars -- Market and Technology Forecast to 2028." 

ST. LOUIS, Mo. Boeing has won a contract modification to a previous contract -- worth $198 million -- providing for the integration of a ground-control station providing command-and-control capability in support of the MQ-25 aerial refueling unmanned aircraft system for the U.S. Navy.

ISRAEL. Rafael Advanced Defense Systems Ltd. announced that it has won a $200 million contract to provide an Asian country with SPICE 2000 air-to-surface systems, Spike ATGMs, tactical, electro-optically guided missiles, and advanced communication systems.

AUSTRALIA. Thales Australia and the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) have signed a $23.7 million contract to equip next generation Mine and Obstacle Avoidance Sonar (MOAS) and High Frequency Intercept Array (HFIA) systems on the Collins Class Submarines.

WAYNE, N.J. BAE Systems Information and Electronic Systems Integration Inc. -- Electronic Solutions has won an award from the U.S. Naval Information Warfare Systems Command worth $86.9 million to perform systems engineering and integration of Multifunctional Information Distribution System Low Volume Terminals (MIDS-LVTs). 

BETHESDA, Md. The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin a two-year contract modification worth $101.5 million to perform F-35 Lightning II aircraft sustainment and day-to-day flight support work for the British defense ministry.

UNITED KINGDOM. In collaboration with UAVTEK, BAE Systems announced it has developed a nano “Bug” unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and delivered the first 30 units to the British Army, which has already subjected the platform to various tests and trials.

WASHINGTON. Final rules for Unmanned Aircraft (UA), commonly known as drones, have been announced by the The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). According to the FAA, the new rules will require Remote Identification (Remote ID) of drones and allow operators of small drones to fly over people and at night under certain conditions.

KAZAKHSTAN. The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Kazakhstan of King Air B300ER Scorpion Aircraft with Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance (ISR) Mission Systems and related equipment for an estimated cost of $128.1 million. 

MELBOURNE, Fla. The U.S. Navy has awarded L3Harris Technologies a five-year, $496 million contract to deliver prototype tactical jamming pods designed to extend U.S. Air superiority.

FORTH WORTH, Texas. Elbit Systems Ltd. announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Elbit Systems of America, LLC, has signed a definitive agreement with an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. for the acquisition of Sparton Corporation for a purchase price of $380 million.  

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. Northrop Grumman Corporation announced it has completed the first flight for the Global Hawk Ground Station Modernization Program (GSMP) at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. earlier this month. Leveraging agile development and an open architecture design, the GSMP team redesigned both the human-machine interface and the underlying software.

FRANCE. Saab announced it has signed a contract with the French Armament General Directorate (DGA) for an upgrade and life extension of the French Air and Space Force’s mobile command and control systems, which feature Saab’s Giraffe AMB radar and command and control shelter.

ARMONK, N.Y. IBM has entered into a Phase 1 Other Transactions Agreement with Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane Division within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to support advancing U.S. microelectronics technology.
