Navy receives first Operational MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned helicopter - News

SAN DIEGO. Northrop Grumman dropped off the first operational MQ-8C version of the Fire Scout unmanned helicopter to the U.S. Navy. The system will be used by ship-based commanders to improve the Navy's intelligence-gathering capabilities.

NASA Orion completes first spaceflight with TTTech's TTEthernet technology onboard - News

NASA, Lockheed Martin, and Honeywell have successfully completed the NASA Orion test flight, which lifted off aboard a Delta IV Heavy rocket to perform its first spaceflight. TTTech has been a partner with NASA since 2008 and supported the design of the NASA Orion Onboard Data Network (ODN) as well as advanced integrated system architectures for human-rated spaceflight based on TTTech’s TTEthernet technology.

The National Training and Simulation Association officials announced this week at Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Orlando, that they have chosen the F-35 Lightning II Training System for the 2014 Modeling & Simulation Awards. It recognizes the F-35 Joint Program Office, the U.S. Air Force’s 33rd Fighter Wing, the F-35 Joint Program Office, and Lockheed Martin for providing an effective, immersive training experience for F-35 pilots and maintainers.

International Space Station's 3D printer makes first part in space - News

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. NASA officials announced that the crew in the he International Space Station put to use their 3D printer and produced the first 3D printed object in space -- a printhead faceplate for the printer. NASA officials see 3D printing of tools and parts as a way to reduce reliance on resupply missions from Earth.

Lockheed Martin, DoD finalize LRIP-8 contract for F-35s - News

Lockheed Martin and the Department of Defense (DoD) have finalized the eighth F-35 Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP-8) contract. The contract, worth $4.7 billion, called for 43 F-35 Lightning II airframes. The 43 airframes include 29 jets for the U.S. and 14 for five international countries.

WAYNE, New Jersey. BAE Systems has been awarded a $3.2 million U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract to combat technological enemy threats. BAE Systems is set to develop a new framework of reliable, anti-jam networked communications as part of the Communications in Contested Environments (C2E) program. This open system architecture (OSA) is part of the first phase of DARPA’s C2E initiative.

LITENING pod upgrade contract won by Northrop Grumman - News

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. Northrop Grumman won a contract to upgrade the AN/AAQ-28(V) LITENING Advanced Targeting Systems for the Air Force, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, and Marine Corps. The award will complete the process of bringing all Air Force Block 1 pods to the G4 configuration, which equals completion of the transition to the latest version of the LITENING system.
