BOULDER, Colo. Blue Canyon Technologies has signed a contract worth $14.6 million with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to build a small satellite bus for explorations beyond geosynchronous Earth orbit that can explore deep space, reaching past where most U.S. military satellites operate.

ARLINGTON, Va. Raytheon Technologies announced it has completed the acquisition of privately-held space electronics firm SEAKR Engineering (Centennial, Colorado). SEAKR Engineering is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Raytheon Technologies, reporting to Raytheon Intelligence & Space, one of four RTX businesses.

ANDOVER, Mass. Mercury Systems announced that it has acquired Atlanta Micro, a designer and manufacturer of high-performance RF modules and components that is based in Norcross, Georgia. 

BETHESDA, Md. Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Space Force report that they have conducted the system-level critical design review (CDR) for the Next Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (NGG) Block 0 space program, one more important step toward launching the first NGG satellite in 2025.

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio. Parallax Advanced Research -- a nonprofit technology accelorator -- garnered a contract worth $2 million from the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Sensors Directorate to participate in the Multi-Sensor Exploitation for Tactical Autonomy (META) program under the AFRL Autonomy Capability Team 3, or ACT3, program.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. High-resolution microdisplay maker Kopin Corp. has begun delivering its new superhigh-brightness Brillian active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) for the Common Helmet Mounted Display (CHMD) System used by U.S. Army helicopter pilots. 

OTTAWA, Ontario. Geospatial-software Kongsberg Geospatial announced that its TerraLens geospatial software development kit (SDK) was selected by Ultra Naval Systems and Sensors to provide the geospatial display and rendering engine for the next generation of U.S. Navy surface-search radars.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Draper Laboratory will expand its role regarding the Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) -- a widely used mobile communications system for the military -- as it recently won a sole-source contract with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to operate and maintain the TAK.

LONDON. The global market for military electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) systems -- valued at $9.2 billion in 2021 -- is anticipated to increase at a CAGR of 3.43% to reach a total of $12.9 billion by 2031, according to new market research from GlobalData, "Global Military Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) Systems Market to 2031."

MARLBOROUGH, Mass. Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S -- a Raytheon Technologies business) won a $17.5 million ID/IQ contract from the U.S. Army to provide improved Mode 5 and ADS-B surveillance capabilities for safe airspace engagement with its "Identification Friend or Foe" (IFF) transponders and cryptographic technologies.

LONDON. Elbit Systems U.K. (a subsidiary of Elbit Systems, Haifa, Israel) has won a contract valued at approximately $100 million (approximately £73 million) to provide the U.K. royal navy with new electronic warfare (EW) capabilities under Increment 1 of the Maritime Electronic Warfare System Integrated Capability (MEWSIC) program.

CHELMSFORD, Mass. Technology R&D firm AiRANACULUS has won a contract with the Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) to study and address the most difficult communications-security challenges within the U.S. intelligence community. 

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Collins Aerospace and several partners report a successful multi-domain operation (MDO) demonstration at September's The Open Group FACE and SOSA Consortia Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) to highlight the benefits of an open systems architecture for avionics.

ROME, N.Y. Information-technology provider PAR Government Systems announced what company officials called the largest single-contract award in PAR’s history: A $490.4 million ID/IQ contract with the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Information Directorate.

DAYTON, Ohio. Mission-critical software provider Aptima has won a contract with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) to build and develop a library of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled pilot agents that will match the AI with pilot trainees in scenarios that target the trainees' skill-building needs. 

LOS ANGELES AIR FORCE BASE--SPACE SYSTEMS COMMAND. The U.S. Space Systems Command, the U.S. Space Force acquisitions and development field command, has awarded L3Harris Technologies a contract worth $120.7 million to upgrade a ground-based communications jammer used to block adversaries’ satellite transmissions.

ATLANTA. Georgia Tech Applied Research Corp. (GTARC), the nonprofit research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology, has won a $770 million sole-source award from the U.S. Air Force to build a radar threat system simulator for military aircrew training activities.

LONDON. The global military unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) market is valued at $8.0 billion in 2021, according to a new study by GlobalData, "Global Military Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Market to 2031."

SAN DIEGO. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions announced that its Kratos Unmanned Systems Division (KUSD) has been awarded a contract worth $17.6 million to design and develop a jet-powered off-board sensing station (OBSS) unmanned aerial system (UAS) in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP) technology maturation portfolio.
