Artificial intelligence (AI) start-up Modern Intelligence has secured a $5 million seed round that will be used to deliver and test the company's AI-based maritime surveillance solution to defense users at Naval Special Warfare's Trident Specter exercise this summer and on the companies' low-data AI research.

KIRKLAND, Wash. Echodyne announced that Advanced Technology Systems Company (ATSC), the prime contractor for the $191 million dollar indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for the U.S. Army’s Security Surveillance System (SSS) program of record has received its first order for Echodyne radars to be used under the SSS program.

Red Cat Holdings, Inc., a hardware-enabled software provider to the drone industry, announced that its subsidiary Teal Drones has been selected by the Department of Defense's (DoD) Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) and U.S. Army to compete in the Short Range Reconnaissance Tranche 2 (SRR T2) Program of Record. 

AUSTRALIA. Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace has signed a contract with Hanwha Defense Australia following a recent announcement by the Australian Government to procure Huntsman self-propelled howitzers and ammunition resupply vehicles.

GERMANY. Through the acquisition of three Lockheed C-130J-30 and KC-130J Hercules aircraft, the German Bundeswehr has announced it will equip all aircraft with HENSOLDT’s latest generation of defense sensor technology, MILDS Block 2.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corporation in the UK (NGUK) has won a contract for in-service support of the Astute Class Submarine Platform Management System (PMS) by the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA), an executive agency of the Ministry of Defense.

AUSTIN, Texas. SparkCognition Government Systems (SGS) has announced its partnership with SkyGrid and LIFT Aircraft Inc. The companies will apply artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology to manage the airspace for autonomous vehicles, specifically HEXA, LIFT's electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.

GERMANY. Sensor solutions provider HENSOLDT has received an order from aerial services specialist QinetiQ GmbH, Mönchengladbach, to supply two complete systems for electro-optical reconnaissance.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corporation has won a $65 million contract by the U.S. Navy to execute the full-rate production of Link-16 for the U.S. Marine Corps AH-1Z and UH-1Y aircraft, which will involve the integration of data link hardware across the fleet.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. Saab received a contract modification from the U.S. Marine Corps worth approximately $122 million within its existing Force on Force Training Systems -- Next (FoFTS-Next) program, described by Saab as a full turnkey live training capability that also includes equipment deliveries for individual Marine weapons and vehicles, together with logistics and maintenance support and training-exercise support at all major U.S. Marine Corps installations worldwide.
