GERMANTOWN, Md. Hughes Network Systems (an EchoStar company) announced that it won a production contract from General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) to produce a key component of the next-generation satellite communications (SATCOM) system for the MQ-1C Gray Eagle 25M uncrewed aircraft system (UAS).

MANAMA, Bahrain. U.S. and the United Kingdom Naval Forces conducted a bilateral mine countermeasures exercise called Poseidon's Chalice in the Arabian Sea from Feb. 24 - March 16. The exercise’s primary focus was to maximize training opportunities in mine warfare and explosive ordinance disposal training, according to a U.S. Navy release.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. Northrop Grumman engineers completed assembly of a full-size uncrewed underwater vehicle (UUV) prototype they dubbed Manta Ray. The UUV is an extra-large glider that will operate long-duration, long-range, and payload-capable undersea missions without need for on-site human logistics.

MOORESTOWN, N.J. Engineers from Lockheed Martin demonstrated the first live track AN/SPY-7(V)1 radar for the Aegis System Equipped Vessel (ASEV), for the Japanese navy. The Japan Ministry of Defense will field two ASEVs with the SPY-7 radar system.

Saab will showcase its Sea Giraffe 1X Multi-Modal (air and surface search) radar at Sea-Air-Space 2024 this week at booth 701, the company announced in a statement, noting that the radar system is designed to be adaptable for use on various naval, surface, or ground platforms.

Northrop Grumman Corporation tested its Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) at White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, where the IBCS system integrated data from a Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) to detect, track, and intercept a surrogate long-range cruise missile using a PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement, the company announced in a statement.

KILN, Miss. Skydweller Aero, a maker of large, autonomous solar-powered aircraft, reports that it accomplished the world's first successful autonomous/unmanned/uncrewed flight of a large solar-powered aircraft; during the flight from Stennis International Airport in Mississippi, the Skydweller uncrewed aerial system (UAS) took off, flew, and landed by itself without human intervention onboard or in control.
