SEA-AIR-SPACE 2021--NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. Contest winners -- drawn from military embedded systems exhibitors at the event -- are recognized for the improved performance and innovation they bring to military electronic systems applications.

SEA-AIR-SPACE MARITIME EXPOSITION. Crystal Group, together with collaboration partner Matrox Video, has announced it will offer the industry’s first ruggedized video appliances (RVA) that combine critical, real-time 4K video streaming, recording, extension, and storage that hew to strict military and industrial standards.

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. The U.S. Air Force conducted its second AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon (ARRW) booster flight test. Officials claim that it did not meet all flight objectives, but that the test did demonstrate several first-time events as the program continues to track toward fielding a hypersonic capability in the early 2020s.

SEA-AIR-SPACE MARITIME EXPOSITION. BAE Systems accounced that it has developed an advanced version of its Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System (APKWS) guidance kit that it says enables enhanced strike distance and precision strike lethality.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. A Northrop Grumman Corporation-built MQ-4C Triton was flown for the first time in the upgraded multi-intelligence configuration known as integrated functional capability four (IFC-4). Triton is the U.S. Navy’s high-altitude, long-endurance (HALE), maritime intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) platform.

GERMANY. Saab has signed a contract with the German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), and has received an order to deliver and integrate new naval radars and fire control directors for and in the German Navy’s Frigates of the Brandenburg-Class (F123).

PATUXENT RIVER, Md. The U.S. Navy conducted its first test flight of the MQ-4C Triton in its upgraded hardware and software configuration at NAS Patuxent River, beginning the next phase of the unmanned aircraft’s development.

UNITED KINGDOM. The Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with British industry Team Tempest partners aiming to drive forward the next phase of the major national and international endeavor to develop the next generation of combat air.

GERMANY. Sensor solution provider HENSOLDT has been commissioned by the German procurement authority BAAINBw to investigate the modernization and performance enhancement of the Eurofighter self-protection system in a multi-year study.

UNITED KINGDOM. Elbit Systems U.K. concluded a participation in NATO’s Coalition Warrior Interoperability Exercise 2021 (CWIX 2021), deploying its TORCH-X based Battle Management Application system (BMA) to support U.K. Higher Headquarters preparedness activities for Five Eyes and NATO operations.

GERMANY. As part of the modernization of all NATO identification-friend-or-foe (IFF) systems to the secure new "Mode 5" standard, sensor solution provider HENSOLDT is equipping air surveillance radars of the German Air Force with the latest generation of IFF systems.

ARLINGTON, Va. The U.S. Army conducted trials with the Textron "Ripsaw" M5 Robotic Combat Vehicle, one of the candidates the service is considering for its RCV-M [Robotic Combat Vehicle -- Medium] program, according to photos recently released by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). 

FAIRFAX, Va. Logos Technologies LLC, developer of wide-area motion imagery (WAMI) systems, announced that, with the test flight of the Spectral and Reconnaissance Imaging for Tactical Exploitation (SPRITE) POD earlier this year, the company has met the goals outlined in its five-year contract with the Office of Naval Research.

WHITE SALMON, Wash. Sagetech Avionics Inc., company providing avionics solutions for unmanned aerial systems (UAS), announced that they completed a demonstration of Detect and Avoid (DAA) using their low size, weight, and power (SWaP) ACAS X-based DAA computer for the U.S. Air Force.

WASHINGTON. The Department of Defense (DoD) Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) announced that it is working toward the implementation of responsible artificial intelligence (AI) by announcing the piloting of a procurement review process that will aim to ensure AI acquired by the JAIC is accordance with the DoD's AI Ethics Principles.
