CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Key sectors of the satellite industry are coming back strong as the world begins to recover from the COVID-19 downturn, according to market-research firm NSR’s latest report, "Global Satellite Capacity Supply and Demand, 18^th Edition." 

WASHINGTON. Four companies -- Bren-Tronics, Inventus Power, Navitas Systems‘ government solutions group, and Ultralife -- recently won spots on a potential nine-year, $1.25 billion contract for a lightweight wearable battery under development by the U.S. Army’s Tactical Power Generation Program.

ISRAEL. The Directorate of Defense R&D in the Ministry of Defense (MoD), together with Elbit Systems and the Israeli Air Force (IAF), has intercepted several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) using an airborne High-Power Laser Weapon System (HPL-WS). The UAVs were intercepted at various ranges and flight altitudes.

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. TEVET, a test and measurement supplier, announced the company has acquired LibertyGT from RADX Technologies, Inc. LibertyGT is a real-time spectrum analysis (RTSA) RF record and playback system that brings distinct flexibility and high precision to electronic warfare and 5G applications.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has launched a project it calls the Knowledge Management at Scale and Speed (KMASS) program, which is intended to research, develop, integrate, evaluate, and demonstrate underlying technology that enables effective use of documented knowledge, acquisition of new knowledge as part of regular workflows, and application of useful knowledge when and where it is required.  

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. Missile-propulsion company Aerojet Rocketdyne reports a successful test of a full-scale advanced solid rocket motor as part of an ongoing series of trials to support Phase 2 of the Operational Fires (OpFires) program, an effort mounted by the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop a ground-launched tactical hypersonic weapon.

EUROPE. Milrem Robotics announced that the company will present their Type-X Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) designed to meet the U.S. Army’s RCV-M program at this year’s Military RAS USA Conference.

NEW YORK. Verizon's Public Sector unit won a $495 million contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to set up and deliver the network for the agency that connects 200 research labs and supercomputer locations.

SUNNYVALE, Calif. Spectranetix, Inc., a Pacific Defense company, announced deliveries of their 3U OpenVPX ruggedized chassis to the U.S. Army, Canadian Ministry of Defense, and U.S. prime contractors. 

ARLINGTON, Va. CACI International announced that the U.S. Army’s C5ISR Center Electronic Warfare Air/Ground Survivability Division (EWAGS) has awarded CACI a four-year $82 million contract to continue support for the Army’s cyber and ground electronic warfare (EW) missions.

DENVER, Colo. The fifth Lockheed Martin-built Global Positioning System III (GPS III) satellite is now headed to its orbit 12,550 miles above earth. The company claims that this marks another step in supporting the U.S. Space Force's GPS satellite constellation modernization efforts.

FORT WORTH, Texas. U.S.  Army active duty and National Guard rotary-wing aviation units will receive an upgrade to their AN/AVS-6 Aviator's Night Vision Imaging Systems (ANVIS) with high performance white phosphor image intensifier tubes to be provided by Elbit Systems of America – Night Vision.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. Raytheon won an award worth $8.8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee completion contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for a research project for the agency's Fast Event-based Neuromorphic Camera and Electronics (FENCE) program. 

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland. Annapolis Micro Systems released a 100Gb Ethernet RFSoC board that is alignd to the Sensor Open Systems Architecture Technical Standard. It combines analog and digital capability in a single 3U OpenVPX slot, operations that previously needed two or more boards for the same functions.
