GERMANY. The sensor solution provider HENSOLDT is developing new artificial intelligence (AI)-based decision-making processes for military operations as part of the GhostPlay project. This is intended to support military action at the tactical level at the highest operational speed using a synthetic simulation environment.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Collins Aerospace, in collaboration with General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc., Parry Labs, Tektonux and Palantir Technologies, conducted a multi-domain operation (MDO) demonstration at the recent Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) and Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Consortia Technical Interchange Meeting to highlight open systems architecture benefits.

Serving as a contractor to GMF, Collins Aerospace will provide its Flight2 avionics solution that transforms dated analog controls into a modern digital glass cockpit.

WILMINGTON, Mass. Ascent AeroSystems and Autonodyne have collaborated to create comprehensive autonomous drone solutions. Both companies were recently announced as finalists for the AUVSI 2021 XCELLENCE Awards — Ascent AeroSystems for Hardware and Systems Design and Autonodyne for Software Design and Coding. 

FRANCE. Thales and CS Group have combined their complementary expertise to offer a high-performance, resilient, and cybersecure navigation system. The system comprises Thales's TopAxyz inertial navigation unit, which has performed in civil aviation. 

PROMONTORY, Utah. The Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) conducted a second test of the First Stage Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) as part of the development of the Navy’s Conventional Prompt Strike (CPS) offensive hypersonic strike capability and the Army’s Long Range Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW). 

LOS ANGELES, Calif. Mynaric has signed a multi-year, strategic agreement with Northrop Grumman that identifies the company as a strategic supplier for laser communications in the space domain.

FRANCE. Thales has won its first delivery order from the U.S. Army to provide the AN/PRC-170 Javelin Radio. Under the Army single channel TSM radio program, and in support of capability set fielding’s into the Integrated Tactical Network (ITN), the AN/PRC-170 Javelin is designed to expand voice, data connectivity, and streaming video to the tactical edge.

AUSTIN, Texas. VORAGO Technologies introduced two new radiation-hardened microcontrollers, the Arm Cortex-M4 VA41628 and VA41629, built to provide flexibility in space-based missions for aerospace and defense.

WASHINGTON. Rhea Space Activity (RSA) has been selected by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) AFWERX program for a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) award to continue its effort in the development of an enhanced Lunar Intelligence (LUNINT) Dashboard in support of Space Domain Awareness (SDA).

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. Capella Space, an information services company that provides an operational Earth observation data service, announced it has signed a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Technical Center (SMDTC).

UNITED KINGDOM. BAE Systems has joined the Center for Threat-Informed Defense (Center), operated by MITRE Engenuity, as a research sponsor to help the organization with its work to develop resources that protect against cyber-attacks.

FALLS CHURCH, Va. Northrop Grumman Corporation signed cooperative agreements with LIG Nex1 and Huneed as the company develops its Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System – Korea (JSTARS-K) solution for the Republic of Korea’s Joint Moving Target Surveillance and Control Aircraft (JMTSCA) requirement.

HUDSON, N.H. The U.S. Air Force has awarded the BAE Systems-Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) team a contract to provide a prototype design for next-generation open architecture signals intelligence (SIGINT) technology under its Global High-altitude Open-system Sensor Technology (GHOST) program.

CARLSBAD, Calif. Viasat Inc., a global communications company, has announced it won a Department of Defense (DoD) contract to provide vulnerability assessment testing and response support under a new pilot program focused on improving the cybersecurity and resilience of DoD weapon systems.

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. AeroVironment, Inc. announced the maritime demonstration of a Puma 3 AE small unmanned aircraft system (UAS) and Switchblade 300 tactical missile system sensor-to-shooter (S2S) capability as part of NATO REP(MUS) 21, Europe’s largest maritime unmanned systems operational experimentation exercise.
