The U.S. State Department outlined its strategy for implementing the International Technology Security and Innovation (ITSI) Fund (ITSI Fund) appropriated under the CHIPS Act of 2022, detailing its two-part strategy: The first relating to semiconductors, the second one dealing with cybersecurity and overall safety of information technology and communication networks and services.

Northrop Grumman reports that it is leveraging digital virtual-reality (VR) technology to refine the design and development of the Next-Generation Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Polar (NGP) satellites, which it is building for the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC).

AURORA, Colo.  Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall said that the U.S. Air Force plans to buy 200 Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) fighter jets to pair with at least 1,000 small uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) -- known as Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCAs) -- during his address at this week's 2023 Air and Space Forces Association Warfare Symposium.

WOBURN, Mass. Artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) engineering company Scientific Systems Company, Inc. (SSCI) paired up with MIT Sea Grant to demonstrate AI for unmanned surface vehicles (USV) using the Navy's Unmanned Maritime Autonomy Architecture (UMAA).

ARLINGTON, Va. A pilot program from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) called Air Space Total Awareness for Rapid Tactical Execution (ASTARTE) recently demonstrated its automated flightpath-planning software that the agency reports successfully deconflicted friendly missiles, artillery fire, and manned and unmanned aircraft while avoiding enemy fires in a simulated battle in contested airspace.

FORT MEADE, Md. The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) reported that its "Thunderdome" cybersecurity and network architecture project hit its initial criteria for success and will be moving on to add elements and roll out to more locations. 

LITTLETON, Colo. Lockheed Martin has signed an agreement -- which could be worth as much as $2 billion if all options are exercised -- with the U.S. Navy to integrate hypersonic strike capability onto the Navy's Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyers.

MANAMA, Bahrain. U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) and naval personnel from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) concluded a weeklong unmanned systems and artificial intelligence (AI) integration exercise in the Arabian Gulf.

NASHUA, NH. BAE Systems and Leonardo UK received the green light from the U.S. government to develop an interoperable aircraft-survivability tool suite -- consisting of the BAE Systems AN/AAR-57 common missile warning system (CMWS) and the Leonardo Miysis directed infrared countermeasure (DIRCM) system -- that is aimed at vastly enhancing combat aircraft survivability against advanced threats.

WEST 2023 CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION -- SAN DIEGO. One Stop Systems (OSS -- Escondido, California) has won an order from the U.S. Army worth $1.3 million for the design, development, and prototyping of a ruggedized compute visualization system for use on Army ground vehicles to boost visualization and safety for the operators, with the opportunity to add artificial intelligence (AI) features in the future.

WEST 2023 CONFERENCE & EXPOSITION -- SAN DIEGO. Phoenix International Systems (Orange, California) announces the debut of its RPC16 rugged network attached storage (NAS) server at this week's AFCEA/USNI West 2023 Conference and Exposition.

ARLINGTON, Va.  CAES has won a contract with the U.S. Navy -- with a reported value of as much as $38.5 million over five years -- to supply spares, engineering services, and repairs on antenna-array panel assemblies to continue to support the SEWIP Block 2 program.

FULLERTON, Calif. Raytheon Intelligence & Space (a business segment of Raytheon Technologies) won a foreign military sales (FMS) contract with the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Traffic Management Systems Program Office to deliver the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) to the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF).
