VIENNA, Va. Space-analytics and services company Spire Global has entered into a contract with the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to deliver a preliminary design for a satellite that would carry an array of sensors to very low-Earth-orbit (VLEO) to perform in-situ ionosphere measurements.

MONROE, La. Communciations and network provider Lumen Technologies won a contract worth as much as $1.5 billion over 10 years from the U.S. Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) to provide essential network transport and communications services in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command Area of Responsibility.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. Collins Aerospace has been tapped by the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to develop a modern Common VLF Receiver Increment 2 (CVRi2) communications protocol for the future Survivable Airborne Operations Center (SAOC), a small fleet of aircraft that are being built and equipped for the highest level of government to direct military forces, deliver emergency war orders, and coordinate civil authorities in the case of destruction of ground command-and-control centers.

The goal of the recently announced Beyond Linear Processing (BLiP) program from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), says the agency, is to apply innovative signal-processing methods to enable the same radar performance achieved on large platforms today but on much smaller sea, air, and ground platforms.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. Open systems integrator Pacific Defense has contracted with the U.S. Marine Corps USMC to deliver multiple SX-3000 systems in support of the MAGTF Electronic Warfare Ground Family of Systems (MEGFoS) static site system evaluation effort.

Teledyne FLIR Defense has won a contract from the The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division worth $48.7 million to provide Maritime Forward Looking Infrared (MARFLIR) II sensors plus a number of variants of its SeaFLIR 280-HD surveillance systems to be implemented by the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

ASHBURN, Va. Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions announced that its Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)-based Data Transport System 1 (DTS1) network-attached storage (NAS) device was chosen by a leading U.S. system integrator for use on a small-class unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) deployment. 

LA GARDE, France. Sea trials of prototype vehicles will take place in the next three months to test the new functionalities of the Exail/ECA Group A18-M autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV).

WATERLOO, Ontario. Pixus Technologies offers a development kit for an OpenVPX/SOSA hardware management card (HMC), as an early prototyping tool for future deployable versions of the Pixus SHM300, a SOSA aligned Tier 3+ board intended for rugged military applications on aircraft, on ships, or in ground vehicles. 

DENVER, Colo. Lockheed Martin is under contract with NASA to deliver three Orion spacecraft for the NASA Artemis VI-VIII missions; the new contracts continue the delivery of exploration vehicles to the space agency to carry astronauts around the moon and further into deep space supporting the Artemis program.

VIENNA, Austria. Unmanned aerial system (UAS) maker Schiebel, in cooperation with defense/aerospace company Thales, demonstrated the unmanned "Camcopter S-100" during a recent NATO exercise held in Portugal to highlight UAS technologies.

EAST AURORA, N.Y. Moog Inc. announced that L3Harris Technologies chose its Moog Space and Defense segment to provide a weapon Stores Management System (SMS) in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Armed Overwatch Program.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has launched what it calls the Hardening Development Toolchains Against Emergent Execution Engines (HARDEN) program, in which it chose teams to create practical tools that will prevent exploitation of integrated computing systems by disrupting the patterns of exploits used by would-be cyber attackers and depriving any attackers of emergent execution engines.
